The CIP/GD Transfer Mechanism

To make the GD transfer mechanism work correctly, GD must be set to resolve its IPs. Check "Resolve" on the toolbar or "File - Resolve" on the menu. Even though GD has access to both IPs and URLs for any given connection, CIP is given the responsibility of resolving URLs: GD uses only reverse DNS; forward DNS must work for the URL be added to the hosts cache.

Further, it is recommended that you start a new hosts file ("Untitled") for GD transfers and import this file later into your cache. CIP will correctly remove all duplicates etc, but the transfer does pick up all URLs and secondary URLs throughout a session, and you might want to review this collection before mixing it in.

All told, this feature should prove useful and speed up connections considerably, as it not only finds embedded URLs in HTML documents you browse to, but also all TCP connections on your local machine, no matter what the protocol used.
